An original production cel from the Walt Disney Studios animated film "Pinocchio" (1940). Pinocchio's adventures capture the mischievous curiosity of childhood in a frightfully accurate manner that continues to captivate audiences even in modern times. Featuring the untrustworthy antagonists Foulfellow and Gideon hatching a devious plan to ensnare the trusting Pinocchio, the hand-painted cel was created at the studio and used during the animation process. The piece is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the film. Measuring 14.25"x15.75" framed with the character image measuring 6.25"x8", the cel is in very good condition, unexamined out of frame, with paint lifting and minor cracking visible in Foulfellow's orange paint. This piece was originally prepared by the studio for sale at the Courvoisier Galleries and the style of the custom prepared background are standard of the setups created for Courvoisier. Characters are trimmed to image and applied to the background, as was common for Courvoisier preparation.
